NVIDIA RTX 3080 Ti, same VRAM in size as RTX 3060 disappointment?
As reported Kopite7kimi, NVIDIA would have predictably changed plans before the end of last year to bring to life a new GPU re-named the RTX 3080 Ti. Curiously, the creation of this new graphics card is subject to another younger sister, but just as interesting: the new RTX 3080 20 GB FE (Founders Edition), but why will they go hand in hand?
Supposedly (and here we go into pure speculation, take some salt) both cards would include the same PCB layout based on the model PG133-SKU15 and at the same time in a new version of the GA102 chip, this time referred to as GA102-250-KD-A1.

This has meant a restyling of the specifications for this 250 version of the GA102, since according to the leak it would introduce 10240 FP32 Shaders with a total of 80 SM. This means reducing the total count from the initial 10496 Shaders leaked two months ago, although this reduction will hardly affect the final performance of the cards.
Will the two models have the same number of Shaders? Obviously not, 10240 Shaders correspond to the RTX 3080 Ti, while the number of them for the RTX 3080 20 GB model is unknown for now, especially if the latter enters the SUPER range, a detail also unknown.
Different and controversial VRAM options
What we also know today is that this RTX 3080 Ti will have the same amount of VRAM as the RTX 3060, that is, 12 GB in total and maintaining its speed of 19 Gbps. In contrast, the RTX 3080 20 GB only increases the VRAM of the original model without modifying the speed of the 10 GB version.
Therefore, the novelty as such is in the RTX 3080 Ti, which, and due to the 12 GB you will need one more memory controller to make a bus of 384 bits, giving a total bandwidth of 912 GB / s, 24 GB / s less than the RTX 3090 with 256 Shaders that is left on the road compared to its older sister.
That is, the performance of the RTX 3080 Ti should be almost on par with the RTX 3090, with less VRAM of course, but also with a price much lower than this. The good thing is that for the RTX 3080 Ti the TGP will not vary compared to its younger sister, since it will consume 320 watts and not the 350W of the RTX 3090, so it is possible that the efficiency will be increased in this new version of the GA102 if the frequencies are maintained.
What about the release date and price? According to the leaks, it would arrive at some point in April at a price close to $ 999 as MSRP, so it would push AMD and its RX 6900 XT, which seems to be hurting NVIDIA in the sector where it most wants to impose its criteria.
